Atelier Pronovias for an Elegant Monochrome Wedding at Lartington Hall – Rachel & Daniel

Sarah Symonds

There are few venues as stunningly beautiful as the elegant Lartington Hall, something our classy couple, Rachel and Daniel, certainly discovered after falling head over heels for the chapel at their first visit.

Opting for a classic and timeless style, an all white and black tie theme, this wedding is a lesson in the old adage that keeping things simple is often best. Our bride, Rachel, absolutely glows with happiness in her stunning Atelier Pronovia gown with back detailing to die for and a cathedral length veil, her hair worn down, in loose curls and with minimal, natural makeup to emphasize her own beauty. And we can’t fault her choice of embellished Christian Louboutins to complete the top-to-toe bridal look.

With the black tie look and the bridesmaid’s Oscars-worthy chic black floor length gown, Lartington’s white and gold heritage vibe pairs perfectly with the couple’s chosen palette. We’re seeing huge bunches of romantic white blooms, moody thistles and an excess of lovely, fresh, green foliage, but the enchanting venue needs little else in the way of interior styling.

This couple have certainly demonstrated the pandemic pivot, as they shift some of their suppliers away from the wedding day and onto planning for their vow renewal and a 30th birthday celebration! This is a great way of using the deposits you’ve paid to the suppliers you love, even if your official wedding day is a little smaller than originally planned.

So pop those Champagne corks as the small and perfectly formed micro wedding saves the day once again!

Proposal

Rachel says: We got engaged in May 2019, at the top of High Force waterfall. Daniel took me on a walk with our dog, Harper.

Setting

We tied the knot on October 23rd 2020 because autumn is my favourite time of year. The colours are beautiful. We got married in the chapel at Lartington Hall.

The venue is amazing. We knew straight away after viewing it for the first time that we wanted to get married there. John and Shona are exceptional hosts and everything about the venue is perfect. Especially the attention to detail.

Theme

Our chosen colour scheme was a very simple black and white. I wanted a classic look that wouldn’t date.

Dress

My wedding dress was by Atelier Pronovias, from Bridal Wish in Blagdon. My mum and Maid of Honour actually chose my dress but I fell in love with the detail on the back. The shoes I wore with it were Christian Louboutin.

Groom

The groom wore a black tie suit from Reiss with Christian Louboutin shoes. The groomsmen wore black tie from Moss Bros in Newcastle.

Bridesmaids

My Maid of Honour wore a black, one shoulder, floor length dress from Lanchester Bridal by the designer Eliza and Ethan.

Photographer

Edward Ashley Photography was our photographer. We cannot speak highly enough of them, they have such a friendly and professional manner.

Videographer

Originally we did book a videographer, Bennett Media, but due to small numbers, we cancelled the videographer for the wedding and instead we will use him for our vow renewal and my 30th birthday.

Styling

Flowers were from Sprig and Thistle. The main flowers we used were white roses, eucalyptus and blue thistles.

Originally our flower order was much larger but we downscaled in the end, as there was no reception. Again, we hope to use Sprig and Thistle for our vow renewal and 30th party.

Favours

Our favours were heart shaped boxes with Champagne truffles inside. The boxes had the date of our wedding on. Since we couldn’t have a reception I handed these out with thank you cards after the wedding.

Cake

Our cake designer was going to be Sadie May Cakes. Unfortunately we had to cancel the cake and we want to use her for my 30th and vow renewal instead. The design of the cake was based on the back of my dress.

Thanks to

Our wedding venue was amazing; we couldn’t have asked for better hosts. They helped us through a really difficult time and made our day special despite the restrictions Covid19 has enforced. We have no regrets.

I would highly recommend the venue to any couples hoping to get married. When receptions are allowed, the food is unbelievable.

Advice

Our best advice to another bride and groom-to-be is to enjoy the day as it goes so fast!
