THE BOTANIST: SARAH SEVEN X NEWBY HALL

Julia Braime

The concept for UNVEILED’S ‘The Botanist’ creative fashion editorial shoot was an enchanted indoor winter garden: bringing the outside in to create a dewy, botanical wedding tablescape within a beautiful stately setting.

We took inspiration from fairy-tales and The Chronicles of Narnia, as well as working with the natural beauty of the flowers, foliage and our model to create a truly organic and magical setting.

This shoot was featured in Issue 05 of UNVEILED Magazine.

Emma Draper, Love Bridal Boutique

We are a multi award-winning bridal boutique based in Cheshire, dedicated to giving our brides the ultimate bridal experience. We stock a carefully curated selection of gowns from leading British and international designers.

The dresses featured in the shoot are by the highly acclaimed US dress designer Sarah Seven. Her style is perfect for the bride who has an urban inclination but is whimsical at heart and is seeking a chic modern silhouette. From the perfectly fitted bodice of the full French lace, strapless Hendricks gown, to the romantic silk chiffon, flowing skirts and beautiful intricate lace detailing of The Violet Hour and Gramercy.

Such a fabulous collaboration of styling experts were involved in this shoot, each of us gasping at all the stunning details, from the floristry and stationery to the cake and make-up styling, plus, of course, the gowns, in the most beautiful setting of Newby Hall.

Jonny Draper, Jonny Draper Photography

I’m a Manchester based wedding photographer shooting weddings right across the UK and internationally.

I loved the concept of The Botanist shoot from the very start, but on the day the venue and the way it was styled really brought each set up to life. The dresses meanwhile, were ethereal with almost a haunting quality that was very fitting for the grand surroundings of Newby Hall.

The shoot could not have gone better. The team were great fun to work with and everyone was really focused on getting the best out of each set up. A big part of the idea was shooting the images in very low light, which always presents a challenge – but that’s also what makes a shoot like this exciting!

Jane Steel, Wedding & Events Floral Design

We are a creative floral design team based in North Yorkshire, specialising in exquisite wedding flowers and exceptional venue styling. Our beautiful floral and venue designs are as unique and fabulous as our brides, and we love to encompass their style and personality in all our creations.

For this beautiful shoot at the stunning Newby Hall, we embraced the organic theme by using lots of moss, ferns and succulents. Dusky pink and lilac roses complemented the green and grey hues of the foliage while gold candelabras, candlesticks and masses of candles created a soft magical effect. Adding feathers and hanging glass globes completed this enchanted look.

Bridal headwear is still very popular with many brides, so we created an inspirational crown of ferns, moss and feathers to further enhance the theme.

Lucy Wright, UNVEILED Wedding Design at Newby Hall

Set in 40 acres of beautiful gardens bounded by the River Ure, Newby Hall is a truly idyllic setting for a wedding. The elegant 17th Century house with its magnificent Robert Adam interiors epitomises the Georgian “Age of Elegance” providing a unique and atmospheric venue.

For this shoot, we wanted to bring the outdoor beauty of Newby’s celebrated gardens inside, to showcase the beautiful Statute Gallery and adjoining rooms.

Wedding ceremonies and receptions can be held in the house itself or in a marquee in the grounds.

Anna “Cordelia” Mason, Cordelia & Co

The look for this shoot was very undone and uncontrived. Makeup to look effortless to let natural, beautiful skin be the focus. I simply used an illuminating concealer pen, with medium coverage, where required – there was no need for foundation!

I blow dried the hair with a matte texturising product and then added even more volume with dry shampoo before back combing and teasing the style into place.

Maxine Canning, Prettyliciouz Cakes

At Prettyliciouz Cakes we create bespoke wedding cakes, cupcakes and dessert tables. Working closely with our couples we design and create their dream cake based on their wedding visions and inspirations.

For this shoot we created a simple three tier, semi-naked cake. Less is definitely more with this half-dressed, barely frosted look, and teamed with beautiful fresh flowers it is the perfect cake for any botanical themed wedding.

Carolyn Sugiura, Gray Starling Designs

Gray Starling Designs offer a wide range of beautifully illustrated, high quality wedding and event stationery to set the tone to your day.

I love vintage hues mixed with pretty colours and graphic illustrations, there’s something inviting and friendly about that type of imagery. All wedding invitations and announcement cards are printed using digital press onto beautiful 300gsm textured board with a luxury hand feel. Creating a visual impact with care and attention to detail is the foundation on which Gray Starling Designs is formed.

This particular design for the shoot was created with natural luxury in mind and has a rustic feel with an ornate implication. Perfect for couples who want a sophisticated look, without breaking the bank.
