Intimate Luxe. A Fine Art Wedding Creative Shoot at Newby Hall

Sarah Symonds

Today’s featured shoot at the grand Newby Hall in Ripon is the very epitome of elegance and grace, featuring a white, blue and gold colour scheme, understated florals and a simplistic yet utterly chic approach.

Lucy of UNVEILED Network Member Lucy Wright Events, a Yorkshire-based wedding planner and designer with 18 years experience, has all of the skills and passion to elevate a wedding onto a whole other level and we know you’re going to want to hear what she has to offer. We’re seeing a lot of clear glass and traditional white church candles, paired with pale grey taper candles for that formal dinner vibe. The cakes are a real focal point too! Three (yes, three!) unreal white towering creations showcased on the table so that no one would be in any doubt as to what dessert might involve!

The palette of all white, navy and gold is such a classic combination, one which raises the bar and the sophistication levels considerably, and then the gold silverware adds a little boujee element to the table styling.

Built in the 1690s, Newby Hall is such a traditional and classic venue and would provide the ideal backdrop to any occasion but most especially a wedding. We just love how this shoot hasn’t overstyled the surroundings but emphasised it, and let the history and impressive stonework speak for itself.

The simple bouquet doesn’t take anything away from the stunning, clean lines of the full-skirted gown with the low back and V neckline, worn with an updo to really accentuate the model’s neck and the design of the dress. The second gown, an elegant and more fitted style with a slimmer silhouette, is lovelier still. There really is something here for everyone.

CONCEPT

Lucy says: I wanted to design a shoot that not only showcased a beautiful intimate wedding, back when we were allowed 30 guests at a wedding, but also the amazing team of suppliers that are involved in every wedding. We all have our individual jobs to do on the day and, indeed, a photo shoot but we are all there as a team working together for our couple.

LOCATION

I look after all the weddings at Newby Hall so I knew the venue very well already. I have planned a few dinner parties and small weddings there as it’s licensed. It was crucial to me that we showcased the one long dining table in this shoot and displayed the wedding cakes on the table as part of the décor.

STYLING

We styled the shoot around blues, white and gold. It was actually the chairs from Black Event Hire that I knew I really wanted, so the other colours were introduced afterwards. Using blue, white and gold was perfect as they are classic, elegant colours that suited the simplicity but grandeur of the venue.

Vicky Laffey at UNVEILED Network Member Floral Quarter Weddings was our florist for the shoot, styled by Amy at Ambience Venue Styling Harrogate. We think their talents speak for themselves!

Carolyn from Gray Starling Designs (another UNVEILED Network Member) provided the beautiful, fine-art inspired stationery, Dominique at Poppy Pickering Cakes created three sensational cake designs that were used centre-stage in our table arrangement and we used Whitehouse Crockery and Just4Linen.

ATTIRE

A few weeks before the shoot I popped up to meet with Vicky and Diana at UNVEILED Network Member boutique The Little Pearl to choose the two bridal dresses plus the bridesmaid dress for Tilly, our model. We chose the beautiful Essense Designs dress – a classic full dress which flowed beautifully when I walked and really suited the grandeur of the building. The Dando London dress looked just as stunning but in a more evening, sophisticated way.

BEAUTY

I wanted the hair and makeup to be elegant and simple. The bride’s first look was inspired by Audrey Hepburn – simple yet beautiful to match the dress. The bride’s second look was a Hollywood glam look as the dress needed something more dreamy with an evening feel.

UNVEILED Network Member Natalie Willingham did the makeup and Maya Taygen was our hair stylist.

RESULTS

The shoot was well planned with a schedule so everything ran like clockwork. We were lucky with the weather and managed to get outside for a bit, all keeping within the Covid19 guidelines by having the doors open. My aim with the shoot was to highlight each supplier and how important they are to the couples wedding day, showing how important it is to book professional suppliers who know what they are doing, are efficient and are just awesome at their jobs! We ended the shoot with a Covid safe team photo around the beautiful table we had dressed. This just captured and highlighted the incredible team of professionals involved.

In the current situation, couples may be feeling deflated, underwhelmed, emotionally stressed about their weddings. We, the team of professional wedding suppliers, will re energise your wedding, whether it’s for 15 people or 150. If you need to minimise your numbers you can most certainly maximise your wow factor!

I am currently planning shoots at all of my new venues. I not only work as a wedding planner, but I am a venue consultant, going into country houses, glamping sites, stately homes, listed properties and getting them wedding ready. So watch this space!
