We got engaged in August 2016, at Top Of The Rock in New York. We went up in the evening when the views of the city were sensational and Joe got down on one knee. A photographer captured the full proposal – it was amazing.
Our ceremony took place at St Marys Church in Norton, followed by a reception at Wynyard Hal in the Tess Valley.
We knew we wanted to book somewhere big and grand, yet close to home so we could invite all our nearest and dearest. Wynyard Hall was the first and last venue we looked at. As soon as we entered we were amazed by the space and instantly knew it was the place where we wanted to celebrate our marriage. All other viewings we had scheduled were cancelled, for us nowhere would ever compare to Wynyard Hall.
It was the most perfect venue for our big day and we would definitely recommend Wynyard Hall to other couples. The grounds, interiors, staff and food provide the complete package and make the venue truly special.
Focal Point were our chosen photographers. We wanted natural, classical photos, which is exactly what they delivered.
We love looking back at the beautiful images they took and remembering our big day. They were a pleasure to work with throughout; from the initial meet up, to the more detailed meetings which took place at our venue in the run-up to the wedding. On the big day they performed perfectly, as their work demonstrates.
To suit the style of the venue, we decided on a classic, traditional theme. Our colour scheme was blush pink, white and gold, which carried through the bridesmaid dresses, stationery, décor and flowers.
I carried a large bouquet of Roses, Gypsophila and Peonies, which were all different shades of pink and white. The same beautiful flowers were used in our church flowers and reception centrepieces.
In keeping with the styling, we had a four-tier white cake decorated with cascading flowers and a gold band. It tasted as amazing as it looked!
I wore an Allure Bridals dress from Laura Day Bridal, with a Pronovias belt and tiered veil. In the evening I took off the veil and added a tulle skirt, which was made by Laura Day. The team there were fabulous from start to finish, and the dress was perfect for me. My shoes were gold and by Jimmy Choo, with a special message from Joe on the soles.
There were lots of personal touches and moments throughout the day, including our memory table featuring photographs of important people who couldn’t be there to celebrate with us; Other highlights include Joe surprising me with a Rolex watch; and the journey from the church to Wynyard Hall in a British racing green, soft-top Jaguar E Type, which gave us a precious 15 minutes alone as a newlywed couple.
