Askham Hall is a magical place to say ‘I do’!. We make each couple’s special day as unique as you are. Our venue is majestic yet tranquil, hidden in a secluded part of the idyllic Lake District. A 13th century grade I listed hideaway and the former home of the Earls’ of Lonsdale, offering unpretentious luxury.

We are an award-winning family run venue with 19 bedrooms, a Michelin starred/ 3 AA rosette restaurant, gardens, access to a nearby ‘Health Barn’, wedding barn, medieval hall and garden pavilion. Luxurious, intimate, unpretentious, up-to-date and full of charm. We can offer somewhere really unique, together with outstanding personal service.

Our latest awards include Visit England’s ‘Taste of England’ bronze and Cumbria Tourism’s ‘Guest Accommodation of the Year’ finalist.

Stunning 18th century Bank Barn, which has been sympathetically converted, provides the perfect space for both wedding receptions and ceremonies. The Medieval hall and the garden pavilion provide alternative options for smaller, mid-week and outdoor weddings, there is even a Gypsy Caravan for couples to sign the register. All set amid stunning 12 acre grade II gardens with uninterrupted views of the River Lowther and surrounding countryside, and with exquisite food and plenty of accommodation on site and nearby.

Catering options utilising produce grown and reared at Askham Hall itself and on the family estate.

Florists, hair and make-up stylists, dressmakers, photographers, cake makers, music bands and other services can be recommended.

We are licensed for civil ceremonies throughout.

St. Peters Church, Askham is located a stone’s throw from the venue. A romantic walk takes you from the church through the gardens and onto the wedding barn. Thirteenth century St. Michael’s Church with its strong family connections, overlooking Askham Hall and with views of Lowther Castle, is also close by.
