Hi, I’m Vivian, the founder and creative director of Precision Events UK, a celebration and event planning company. We do event planning and venue styling for all celebrations, including weddings across the South East of England and Northampton.
I’ve always been artistic and creative from the get-go. One of my jobs was actually in events management and hospitality, and through that I really fell in love with using my creative flair to put together elegant events. I also get real joy from seeing people’s visions come to life, and so all those things eventually brought me to a point where I had no choice but to pursue my dream of helping people birth their visions.
Let’s face it – planning and pulling off an event can be a testing time for some. If that pressure can be taken away, it leaves you free to enjoy the build-up to your big day. When the day itself arrives, with someone else focused on making sure that everything runs smoothly and ‘putting out any fires’, you can just get on with creating special memories.
The other advantage is that as an event planner who is in the business, the network of vendors available to us is pretty vast. That means we have the capacity to find exactly what our clients need and are in a better position to get the best return for their investment.
At Precision Events UK, we take celebrations very seriously and relish the opportunity to create something luxurious.
We offer couples a range of services for their wedding day. We can either just focus on styling the wedding venue if they have everything else covered. Alternatively, we can offer what we call a ‘partial plan’ where we work with a couple for the final eight weeks leading up to their ceremony after they have put everything in place; we then execute on the day. Then, of course, we can provide a full planning service where we essentially do everything from consultation to pack down once the day has ended.
Yes, we certainly have. Whatever concept a client leans towards, it will be marked with our signature of impeccable style and class.
Right now, the ‘in’ colour combos are cinnamon rose and dusty rose; terracotta and greenery; blush pink, greenery and cinnamon rose; and blue, dusty blue and burgundy. Tones of grey are really popular too.
One of the key things we do from the outset is to get to know a couple well. I like to say we pull out a client’s ‘party persona’, and to do that, we have to really understand who they are and what it is they want. Then only after we have set that foundation can we put in place a process that can bring their specific vision to life.
Passion, a keen eye for detail and solid organisational skills.
We start off with an initial consultation where I ask the couple what their vision for their day is. My main objectives are, i) to really understand who they are so that I know how to best work with them, and ii) get clarity on their budget and timelines. So, I will actively listen and read between the lines, and I will ask, ask and ask more questions! For example, it’s important to understand their family dynamics and cultural preferences. Then I’d also need to understand how much support they need from me. Once this groundwork is laid, then we can move into selecting the specific package and getting into the logistics.
I would say to couples when trying to work out your style, consider these three things:
Ah, this is a good one!
I think we will actually see a continuation of micro-weddings. The pandemic – that dreaded word – will continue to have an impact on the size of weddings, particularly as travel will still be restricted for some time. I think we’ll also see more outdoor weddings and weddings at home, either indoors or in gardens.
The other thing I think we’ll see following on from that initial small wedding, a second larger celebration; perhaps a big party for the first anniversary where couples can invite more guests.
Yes, of course. I’d be happy to! The first reader to contact us via our website quoting this interview will get a free no-obligation 30-minute consultation to help them optimise their budget and pin down a theme for their wedding.
Yes, I would give one crucial piece of advice to anyone choosing an event planner for their wedding. The one you select should make you feel completely secure in the fact that they will create an event specifically for you and not one similar to the one they did last month!
