Hi, I’m Ann of Cakes by Mrs O. When my children were little I started creating cakes for them and then friends and family too. Jump forward a few years, my friend pushed me to take the plunge to set up a business in 2018. At the time I said I would only do celebrations cakes as I couldn’t create sugar flowers that didn’t look like cabbages! Lots of teaching myself and practice later, I am now very proud of my creations.
After initial contact from a bride I invite all couples to a consultation at my home. I only hold one consultation a day so as we have plenty of time to discuss the many options available for your bespoke cake, whilst you taste my cakes and sip bubbles! I like to get to know each couple and that way your cake is truly bespoke and it also helps to create a WOW moment on the day.
I can work with you to create any flavour cake you wish. I only use the best of ingredients and make my own curds and coulis to ensure the quality and taste.
My kitchen has been given a 5* rating for hygiene and I have all the necessary insurances.
When it comes to creating your cake I only take on 1 cake a week because I like to give each cake 100% of my attention. I am also very particular and will not let a cake leave that doesn’t pass very critical eye.

As soon as we contacted Ann, there was no doubt that we wanted her to create our wedding cake. She is friendly, professional and passionate. At our first consultation, Ann worked with us to create different designs. The second part of the process was the cake tasting. Ann put so much effort in to ensure it was a memorable experience and encouraged us to bring along family. The sample sizes were huge, there was so many flavours and we even got to take the rest home with us! At the cake tasting we also finalised a design. If Ann saw something new she felt would improve the design, she would contact us. As a result, our design changed multiple times and she was always so patient. We had a few further consultations to discuss things like the colour of the icing so that it perfectly matched my bridesmaid dresses. The cake was phenomenal and was even better than we had imagined. The flowers Ann created by hand just added to it. One of our photographers said it was the best cake she had ever seen. It tasted amazing and all our guests loved it. No one could pick a favourite flavour!
Throughout the whole process, Ann was extremely accommodating and was always contactable. She made us feel truly special as she cares so much about creating the perfect cake. We could not recommend Cakes by Mrs O any more. We will continue to use Cakes by Mrs O for all special occasions.Clare
